It’s as good a time as any to take a gander over the stir caused by one of the more infamous examples of bad behavior and the dialog it stirred back in 2004 when the Comics Journal ran a certain editors’ obituary.
This guy’s hands are practically crawling up my dress under the table. Jo got up to go to the ladies’ room and he grabbed me and tried to shove his tongue down my throat.

It was just the old hand on the thigh, hand on the shoulder, hand on the arm, not letting go unless you pull yourself away strongly enough to leave bruises.

(When a 17-year-old Jill Thompson tried to shake his hand) he put his hand out and honked my boob.

The only time I ever spoke to the man, he told me in a condescending tone, “You don’t look like a writer,” then attempted to cop a feel.

Fortunately I never got anything more than "of course I would love to be escorted to my seat by a pretty lady" from him during ComicFest '03, but perhaps that was because my husband at the time was in the vicinity (plus, I'm not a pro, I was just one of the con organizers).
Oops, that should be Comicfest '93...
Well, usually the presence of a significant other will cut down on that kind of acting out on the part of the offender. This kind of behavior strikes me as an example of bullying and the thing bullies fear is getting their hat handed to them. Men are useful if only in that our presence will sometimes curb the obnoxious behavior of other members of our gender.
